The app I am going to review is called Geography Drive USA.
This would be helpful for any children that are learning about maps or are in
geography classes. I think this app is skilled for geography purposes. This app
has facts about each of the states and three questions to answer about each
state. You gain more fuel and money whenever you answer the questions
correctly. The questions cover current as well as historical events. In my
classroom, I would use this to not only have the students know more about each
state, but they could also learn important things about the states and learn
where they are on the map. This would be an easy way to make geography more fun
for kids of all ages.

The app I am going to review is
called Remind 101. This is an app designed for teachers to easily communicate
with their students or parents to fill them in on things happening at the
school, homework assignments, test dates, etc. I think this app would be most
appropriate for children starting in junior high through high school. Usually
students have more classes starting in 6th grade and need help
remembering everything. This app lets each teacher send out a mass message to all
the students and/or parents about any important information going on at the
school. I used Remind 101 in high school, and it was a major help for me to get
things turned in on time and to make sure I studied for all of my upcoming
tests. If I used Remind 101 in my classroom, I would use it for my students’
parents. I plan to teach kindergarten, so my students will not have cell
phones, but I could have each of their parents sign up so that I could send
them messages about what is going on in my classroom. The Remind 101 app can be
downloaded for use on any Apple or Android device.
In the first article read,
Video Production in a Cooperative Learning Environment, it is discussed that
there is a lot of time and energy put in to video production. To produce good
video, there are a lot of people that have to be involved. In your personal
classroom, the role you play in all video production is producer. You have your
“crew”, also known as your students, make the video that you request. You have
to explain to your students all the positions and responsibilities they will
need to perform the task efficiently. Your creative students will be drawn more
to the screenwriter positions. The more active students will most likely be the
ones in front of the camera. The leaders of the class will be more drawn to be
in the director position. The second article, What to Teach, explains to us all
of the things we need to know before we try to take on teaching such a
challenging subject. It is much easier to know about what it is you are trying
to teach rather than teaching yourself along the way while trying to teach your
students. Technology changes so fast that you really have to keep up frequently
or else you will fall behind quickly. The last article, Storyboard Your Project,
deals with the steps you should take in preparation for video production. These
steps include: breaking down your script, evaluating each shot, creating a shot
list and constructing storyboard panels.
The first article
listed 10 tips to help create effective presentations and slideshows. This
article was very helpful, and I know all of these tips will be useful to me
while taking this class. I like that it made sure to include that sometimes
when you try to make your presentations or slideshows more fancy, it can become
too much. Sometimes simplicity is key. Also it reminds us not to put too many
details on the slides that you are discussing. Main thoughts and ideas should
be on the slide, and you should elaborate on them while presenting. The second
article focused more on tips for slide design and helping create effective
presentations. Like the first article, this one was just as helpful. It also
went over things the first one did, like keeping the text limited and making
use of bullet points but not going overboard with it. The more full the slide,
the more bored your audience will get. It also focused on not getting to fancy
with transitions and animations like the first article did. This is a good rule
of thumb for any type of presentations because these things can act as a
distraction from the information actually on the slide. Both of these articles
were very helpful, and I can see myself referencing them for future projects in
this class.
The Wix assignment was fun, but it was also challenging, and I liked that. Here's the link to my site: http://ajlittle1218.wixsite.com/professionalpages
